When everyone has access to information, people can work together to create solutions. Data transparency takes the guessing out of where bottlenecks are occurring, or how common an issue may be across a team. This new Team Deep Dive feature gives all members of a team shared visibility to understand where they’re excelling and where they want to shift patterns, like reducing meetings or load-balancing work.

INTRODUCING: TEAM DEEP DIVE

In this short video, hear from fellow engineer, Alex Snider, as he digs into:

  • Why we built the Team Deep Dive feature
  • Ideas for putting it to use
  • What he loves most about this feature he helped build

HOW CAN MANAGERS USE THIS FOR TEAM SUCCESS?

When work is behind schedule or developers express a need for change, explore Team Deep Dive for insights. At first glance, you’ll see team averages for People Health metrics: Is available Deep Work time increasing or decreasing? How is Context Switching trending? Is your team responding to a lot of Interruptions during Deep Work?

Then, scan personal charts to understand where these factors are most strongly concentrated. If you see low Deep Work for your team member that is in the most meetings, you can connect the dots and suggest calendar changes if needed. Notice a pattern across the board? Bring it up at your next team meeting to discuss the road ahead.

New icons around each metric explain why our chosen metrics are important for your team’s well-being, as well as how we define them and which sources we consult.

Team Deep Dive supports managers with deeper insight into what’s happening and what is causing it.

HOW CAN DEVELOPERS AND INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTORS USE THIS FOR TEAM SUCCESS?

Every team member works together to create a healthy, productive environment. Team Deep Dive gives ICs a high-level view into group patterns of focus and overtime.

When your bandwidth is taxed, you’re feeling randomized, or you’re preparing for a 1:1, check Team Deep Dive to better understand your personal metrics and those of your team. Use the charts to explore whether your other team members have time to focus, with the end goal of nurturing a healthy team culture. If it looks like everyone has low Deep Work time, you might get the signal to schedule time on your calendar, or suggest culture changes around meeting attendance.

With the Team Deep Dive metrics, you know when to take action and what action to take. Think of this as providing everyone on the team with a common language, which you can use to align on issues and create solutions.
